Travel Environment Friendly

Helping the environment is not an easy task, but taking small steps in everyday life can make a big difference. On vacation you can also help the environment by adopting some of the tips below:

By land or by air.

Air travel is more harmful to the environment, so when possible travel by land, car or train, and enjoy the scenery. When you have to go by plane to reach the destination, choose direct flights. If flying with multiple stops will increase your carbon footprint, the carbon footprint and the plane will spend more fuel.

Travel with little luggage.

The suitcase also weighs in the basement of the airplane, which has an impact on fuel consumption. In addition, if you carry a small baggage, you will not need to take taxis for certain journeys, and you can choose to go on foot or use public transport;

Neither the nor the less.

Choose to take enough clothes so you do not have to resort to Laundromats or try to wash your own laundry in the bathroom where you stay. Most laundries spend too much water and detergent.

Choose the accommodation well.

Try to stay near the tourist attractions you want to visit. So you can get around on foot or by public transport. Thus, it saves on the portfolio and contributes to the decrease of CO2;

Avoid daily washing.

At the hotel do not ask to wash the towel and sheets every day. Much of the accommodation keeps visible in the rooms the information on how to leave the towel when it is to change. If you think about it, at home, do not wash your bath towel every day, will you?

Water and electricity.

At the hotel, take care of the water and electricity consumption at home. Take quick showers, turn off the tap when you are washing your teeth, and turn off the light when you leave a room;

Take a bottle of water.

Travel with your own water bottle and try not to buy plastic bottles at destination. Did you know that a plastic bottle takes 450 years to decompose? Taking your own reusable water bottle will save you a lot of money and you are still being environmentally friendly. In the oceans millions of tons of plastic trash circulate. Also avoid the use of other disposable plastic objects such as straws, plates, cutlery and other single-use plastics;

Respect the places you visit.

This implies, among other gestures, to request permission to take photographs and not throw garbage outside the designated places. You can always carry a bag with you to store the garbage until you can deposit it in the appropriate place;

Products of the region.

Try to consume typical, local and artisan products. It thus enhances local culture, contributes to the region’s economy and helps the environment as these products have lower CO2 emissions than others that need to be transported from other regions or other countries;

Nature intact.

At destination, when hiking, keep on existing paths and tracks and remember that leaves, flowers or corals are not souvenirs to bring home;
